Building Unity in the Community- April 2026 Paws for prison
Hines Homes Supporting Paws for Prison

At Hines Homes, we often talk about the importance of "home." But for many of our four-legged friends in Arkansas shelters, finding a forever home can be a challenge. That is why, for this month’s Building Unity in the Community initiative, we are proud to direct our support to a program that changes lives on both ends of the leash: Arkansas Paws in Prison.
Second Chances for Everyone Paws in Prison is a unique partnership between the Arkansas Department of Corrections and animal shelters across the state. The program pairs shelter dogs with inmate trainers who work with them 24/7 to teach obedience, socialization, and basic commands.
We love this organization because it is a true "win-win."
- For the Dogs: Many of these dogs were at risk of euthanasia or had behavioral issues that made them hard to adopt. Through the program, they become well-behaved, loving companions ready for a family.
- For the Inmates: The trainers learn vocational skills, responsibility, and compassion. It provides a sense of purpose and a way to give back to the community while incarcerated.
Building a Compassionate Community When we send our donation this month, we are supporting the supplies, veterinary care, and professional training support that keeps this program running. The program operates solely on donations and grants, meaning community support is vital.
By supporting Paws in Prison, we aren’t just helping dogs find homes; we are investing in rehabilitation and reducing the burden on our local animal shelters. It is a powerful reminder that with a little patience and care, everyone deserves a second chance.
Get Involved If you are looking to add a furry friend to your family, we highly encourage you to look at the Paws in Prison graduates. These dogs come fully trained, socialized, and ready to be the perfect addition to your home.
